HISTORIC PRESERVATION
In communities across the state, country and world, chapter members participate in
The Historic Preservation Committee was established during the Calvin Administration to serve four main functions: (1) The Preservation Medal, honoring outstanding individuals for distinguished lifelong work in the field of historic preservation. (2) The Historic Preservation Project Contest recognizes outstanding historic preservation efforts by chapters or states. (3) The creation of a Historic Sites and Properties Database to be used to promote tourism. (4) The administering of the Historic Preservation Recognition Award, which honors individuals or groups who have done outstanding historic preservation work. Historic Preservation is emphasized in three key areas by the chapters of the WSSDAR.
The State of Washington has two historic properties on the NSDAR Historic Sites and Properties database.
