State Regent's Theme: Celebrate Our American Spirit

State Regent Jacqueline Riddell has chosen the theme “Celebrate Our American Spirit” for her administration.
Our remarkable organization unites women across generations, celebrating our shared commitment to patriotism, historic preservation, and education. As America approaches it's 250th anniversary, “Celebrate Our American Spirit” encapsulates the essence of what it means to be a daughter. We show our spirit in activities, including patriotic events, community service, historic preservation, education and scholarships, genealogy research, and arts and culture. As Daughters, we honor the enduring spirit that defines America.

State Regent's Projects:

American Battlefield Trust Teacher Institute

On July 4, 2026, we will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a pivotal moment that shaped the course of history. By studying American history, students gain insights into the struggles, achievements, and pivotal moments that have shaped the United States. Mrs. Riddell’s project raises funds to bring together history teachers through the American Battlefield Trust Teacher Institute. The Institute offers breakout sessions, workshops, lectures, and tours led by leading experts in history and education.

Support Our Veterans Administration Hospitals

Mrs. Riddell’s State Regent’s Project supports our heroes in their healing journey with a token of appreciation and thank you letter from Washington Daughters. The State Regent’s Project enables the purchase of casual meal dining gift cards to distribute to veterans through the Center for Development & Civic Engagement (CDCE). Funds will be equally distributed among Washington State’s five VA hospitals in Medical Lake, Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver, and Walla Walla. As we approach our nation’s 250th celebration, we honor veterans who have played a vital role in shaping our democracy and preserving the values we hold dear. Our brave veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and their service reminds us that the American Spirit endures.

Three Stars, One Purpose: Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism
Each star on this pin represents a vital pillar of our mission:

Historic Preservation: The first star reminds us of our duty to honor the sacrifices of our ancestors by preserving historical sites, documents, and artifacts.
Education: The second star represents knowledge and enlightenment.
Patriotism: The third star shines brightly for the love of country.
